My 2008-About my pictures (Part 2)

March/2008 and April/2008

Blank.

These two months had been too busy I guess. I couldn’t find any pictures in my pool. I felt so sorry about this.

May/2008     Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada

I went back to Canada for my Master convocation. And we drove to Jasper for a short vacation as well. I took this picture besides a highway in Jasper national park, Alberta, Canada. This beautiful lake forced me to make a dangerous U-turn on highway. Fortunately, I was not caught by a police.

Three goats are eating grass along a river in Jasper national park, AB. Beautiful landscape view, rivers, mountains, clouds, grass, and goats. If I stay there for longer, I could produce better photos.

This is one of my favorite photos in my pool. I captured this little lovely naughty when we were having breakfast. He seemed to be very interesting in my biscuit, nuts, and milk.

This Barn Swallow was captured in Columbia Icefield in Jasper, AB. I was wearing a sweater and coat when I got off my car. It was June! I didn’t expect this bird when I was walking. I even didn’t have 55-200 mm mounted on my camera. I suddenly decided to change the lens on, and took some photos for this beautiful creature.

June/2008    West Lafayette, IN, USA                  “Mourned for Victims in Wen Chuan Earthquake”.

PUCSSA here organized a gathering to express our condolences for people who died in this disaster. This boy in this picture is from Sichuan, China, which is the epicenter of this earthquake. His family was greatly affected by the disaster. He shared a story of his family with us while the piano was playing a song named "A Heart for China" as the background. Most people cried.

More than 80 people came to this gathering which was held in University Church. A video showed a victim, an elementary school girl. Her life was taken away when she was studying in the classroom.

July/2008     Independence Day (July 4th), West Lafayette, IN, USA

I found it is extremely hard to take pictures of firework with a camera that doesn’t have a LCD viewer. I really admire those who used film cameras but still got great firework photos. I do not have a remote, but I do have a tripod. 95% of my shots all failed.

Another fireworks

August/2008         Indy air show, McCordsville, IN, USA

This picture is from annual Indy air show of 2008, in Mt Comfort Airport, McCordsville, IN. The first time I ever shot a flying plane, and saw a real F-16, F/A-18, and F-22. However, they are too far and too fast to reach with respect to my 55-200 mm. However, I captured this photo below. It is a part of the show performance. If you read it carefully, you will see a performer hanging out of this small plane. Yes, a real flying plane. They call it the “Wing walker”. I like this picture because it gives me nice color and propeller movement. And I saw this color only when the sun is not blocked by dense cloud.

This photo captures the opening ceremony of this show. The National Anthem of USA is broadcasted on air and accompanied by a falling parachute in the air.

September/2008    Lake Michigan, MI, USA

This seagull is caught in Lake Michigan. I won’t say much about it. I just like seagull.

Li Ji: Again, she’d like to have some memory for Lake Michigan. So I gave her a series of photos which capture the beauty of Lake Michigan and herself.

October/2008   Rockville, IN, USA

The trip is held by PUCSSA, sponsored by local billionaire. She owned the house, the lake, the mountain, and fast boats. The photo shows the Raccoon Lake in the dusk. I knew this would be a good photo before I took it. Falling sun, waving leaves, fast-moving boat, and nice reflections. Can you ask for more?

Culver, IN, USA

Douglas treated us for this trip to celebrate the birthday of his girlfriend (Thank you Doug!). It is taken at about 7:30 am in the morning. I am not used to get up this early. Finally I got paid for this time. I walked on the warm beach, felt the morning breath, watched the lake view, and bathed under fresh sunshine.

Beach of Culver Hotel

The hotel and beach is an important part of this small county. A private academic high school is the main part of it. Every year during convocation time, parents will drop by and live in this hotel for about a week. I was told that most parents are driving Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Jaguar or something like those.

Li Ji: In front of a local church. She’d like to be cool, so I gave her a “cool”.

She’d like to be beautiful and “girl” this time.

Paul Chen: A friend from ECE of our school. We invited him as our model. And of course he agreed.

Some girls like this photo the most. They said he looks like Bae Yong Joon, a Korean TV star.

November   Brown County, Bloomington, IN, USA

It is a piece of photo to memorize the past autumn. I didn’t take any good pictures during this trip. I feel sorry about this, not only because of weather, but also mood.

December    Happy Hollow Park, West Lafayette, IN, USA

A tree without any leaves sitting under a bright white sky. I can see the dried texture of the skin very clearly, which gives me a piece of sadness. Maybe this is exactly what WINTER means.
